Matsuko saw the barrage of needles head towards Pidgey and panicked. "Pidgey, dodge!" the little bird tried to fly from the needles, but still got some of them stuck in. Using its beak, it took them out and threw them on the ground, but the poison was already in its system. "Come on, try again, gust!" Seeing as that was the most effective attack that Pidgey knew then, it was the only one it could use to deal more damage. The Pokemon raised once again and flapped its wings, sending another gust of wind towards Nidoran, this time, hopefully stronger than the last.

"Great job Nidoran!" Cairo said. With the Poison setting in, they would have the advantage now. Cairo made a mental note to give the tiny bird an antidote when the battle was over. Then the Pidgey used gust again. That attack was difficult to counter, but Cairo had thought of a way to at least reduce the damage. He watched as the Nidoran went flying again. "Nidoran, use Horn Attack on the ground!" he said. The flying rodents horns hardened, and it began frantically forcing them toward the ground so that the horns would absorb some of the damage. This would cause Nidoran to miss it's opportunity to counterattack, but the poison would do some damage anyway. It was coming down to it now. Both Pokemon must have been exhausted. Cairo noticed JD running up, but he didn't have time to react. It was all or nothing from here...

'Dice 1' :

Matsuko gasped softly and saw that Pidgey was almost out. At this point, there was no way Pidgey could do much more. The poison was steadily affecting its little body. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Lance, but she paid him no attention. "Come on, Pidgey. Quick-attack!" Matsuko knew Gust would be too much of a strain. The little Pidgey mustered the rest of its strength and charged forward, its small size helping its speed greatly. It flew up to the Nidoran's height and threw its entire body at it.

'Dice 1' :

The impact threw the little Pidgey back as well as Nidoran. The Pokemon got up and wobbled for a second, but the poison took its toll and Pidgey fell over as well. Instead of calling it back into its pokeball, she picked it up in her arms and took an antidote out for it from her pocket. After that was done, she told Charmander to take Pidgey to the shade to rest. "Alright, Squirt... How are you doin'?" she crossed her arms and looked at the Squirtle lounging in the shade.

Squirtle heard Cairo's teasing and jumped up to attention, squirting some water out in his direction. "Squirt." he said confidently, crossing his little arms. Matsuko laughed and nodded her head. "Alrighty then 'Squirt'." She looked up at Cairo and nodded in thanks. "You're turn, hun." Squirtle waved his tail and smirked. Matsuko tapped him on the shell with her foot. "Hey, don't get too cocky, Squirt."

Matsuko blinked a few times and looked at the Metapod, waiting for it to attack, move, do something, but it just sat still. She tilted her head to the other side, wondering if it would blink in reaction to movement-- It didn't. Was it just going to take the attacks? Would it defend? "Squirt, tackle attack." she said hesitantly, amber eyes studying the Pokemon. Squirtle charged forward without any hesitation and jumped into the attack, shoving his shoulder at the Metapod.

"Metapod Harden!"

Metapods entire body began to glow as it's body hardened. It would be as if Squirtle just tackled a giant rock, rather than a coccoon. Of course, Metapod had no offensive moves, so to speak, so Cairo had no idea what he would do. But then, Perhaps there WAS a way to fight back! The tackle attack managed to knock the Metapod on its side, but it simply got back up, and looked at it's opponent.

Squirtle winced a little bit when he hit the Metapod and he looked at it cautiously, knocking on it with his fist. It was completely solid. Squirtle jumped back and looked up at Matsuko. She shook her head. "Use bubble attack!" Squirtle obeyed and bubbles flew from the Pokemon's mouth towards the Metapod.

'Dice 1' :

Squirtle struggled against the web, unable to move its arms. "Squirtle, use tackle!" Matsuko called. Of course, this probably wouldn't work. Cairo was a genius. He knew almost everything about Pokemon. She was just a school girl who tried. Despite all of that, Squirtle hopped to the Metapod and jumped, hoping that the extra speed and force would help.

Matsuko called Squirtle back into the pokeball at the last second and held her hands up in defeat. "Alright, Alright, you win." she said with a grin. She looked over at the two Charmanders and found them running around playing in the grass. "I guess our battle ends here." she stuck her tongue out as him and plopped down beside Pidgey. "Come on, dear. We're taking you to the PokeCenter. Cairo, you want to come?" she asked him, trying not to look too hopeful. So he wouldn't notice, she started walking towards it.

"What do you mean?" Cairo asked. "It was supposed to be three on three." The battle between Charmanders was the one he had been looking forward to the whole time... He then looked at the rest of their Pokemon and let out a sigh. "I guess it'd be best to take care of the rest of them for now..." He said, recalling Coal and Nidoran to their Pokeballs. But before he could recall Metapod, it began to glow. Then the shell cracked open, and from it, appeared a Butterfree. "Wow..." Cairo said. "I've read all about evolution, but I've never seen one up close before." He said, as he held out his arm for Butterfree to land on, and examined it with his PokeDex. "Congratulations Butterfree." He said, allowing it to stay out as he walked with Matsuko to the Pokemon Center, the blush returning to his face now that he wasn't distracted with the battle.

Matsuko knew that he was disappointed, but she shrugged it off. He would have future battles. She was captivated by the evolution. Taking a closer look at the Butterfree, she found it less disgusting than the Metapod it evolved from. She got up and walked away. Arriving at the Pokemon Center, she gave Nurse Joy her injured Pokemon and sat down with Charmander in her lap, talking softly to it so Cairo couldn't hear her. "You don't really think Cairo likes me that way, do you?" Mira simply nodded and pointed at Coal. "So he told you, eh? Is he trustworthy?" Mira nodded once more.
