Pallet Town

She blushed and went into the grass, making her ankles itch a little, but she paid no attention to that. She had her Pokedex out and it scanned the pokemon that were there; Pidgey and Rattata. She heard Lance say he wanteda Rattata, but Matsuko had her eyes on a Pidgey. It wasn't too far away, hopping on the ground and pecking at the bugs. She knelt down and scanned it with her Pokedex, listening to the description. It would be useful for traveling later on... Charmander walked by her side and looked at it as well, breathing a short puff of hot air in its direction to get its attention. The pokemon chirped and flapped its wings at the pair, making some of the other wild pokemon move away from the trio.

Lance watched Matsuko run off towards a pidgey and his lips curled up in a smile as he stared down the small rat pokemon and he pointed his pokedex at him and heard the explanation before the pokemon darted forward going for Lance’s small yellow mouse, Lance turned his hand forward and pointed it at the rattata as it sped forward, “Pikachu, use lightning bolt” Lance demanded in a booming voice as the small yellow pokemon charged blue lightning around him and said “Pikaaaaa chuuuuu” sending the bolt of lightning speeding towards the small rat striking him softly on the back, the small rat got up and sped towards Pikachu and headbutted him in the small pokemons body sending him flying backwards through the dirt.

Matsuko stood and made a fist. "Okay, Mira, use Scratch!" her Charmander charged forward and leapt towards the small bird, even though it was already double Pidgey's size. The Pidgey sent a small gust of wind towards it, but the Charmander's claws cut right through it and the pokemon. It went down for a second, but got right up and ran through the tall grass away from them. "Hey! Wait!" she tried to follow, but the grass was too tall to find it. "Damn..." she gave a small pout and watched to see how Lance's capture would turn out.

Lance looked down in concern at Pikachu and ran over to it to pick it up, but was surprised with the Rattata leaped up to bite down into Lance’s shoulder the yellow pokemon yelled “Pikaaa…..chuuuuu” and the blue lightning charged around the pokemon slamming into the purple pokemon sending it to the ground, Lance backed up and grabbed a pokeball and tossed it at the young rat allowing the pokemon the chance to get inside, the ball began to shake violently and slowly calmed down until the pokemon quit all together, Lance went over to collect the ball but the pokemon jumped out with fury in its eyes and began madly chittering as it sped towards Pikachu, lance looked over and muttered “Pikachu quick attack” Pikachu sped forward and struck the pokemon in the face with it’s tail sending him stumbling to the ground. Rattata took a minute but eventually stayed down having lost the fight to continue Lance tossed the pokeball over top of the rat and watched as it eventually stopped moving all together signifying Lance had caught it. Lance jumped up and ran over to the small pokeball and began jumping for joy “I caught it I caught it”

Matsuko clapped and hugged him. "You caught your first pokemon! Now I just gotta catch up.." Mira poked her leg and pointed to another Pidgey calmly sitting in the sun. She smirked and turned to the Pidgey. "Scratch Attack!" she yelled. Mira seemed to already know what Matsuko was going to do and ran forward before the words could leave her lips. Her attack pushed the Pidgey back onto the ground, but it flipped over again and let out a loud growl. Mira covered her ears for a second, but then shoved her shoulder into the tiny pokemon. Matsuko threw a pokeball at the Pidgey with perfect aim and watched with clenched fists as it shook... Once... Twice... And it stopped. She jumped in the air and Mira jumped as well, picking up the tiny pokeball in her tiny hands and giving it to Matsuko. "Look, Lancey!"

Celise sat on a large rock, watching the two trainers pursue their first pokemon. Both of them successful. She knew them both. Lance and Matsuko. Both kids from Pallet Town, like her. She sighed, and looked down at the Pokeball in her hand. It contained the Squirtle she recieved from Proffessor Oak over a week ago. Since that day she had been trying to catch a Pidgey, and still hadn't managed to do it. And here, she watched Matsuko do it in a matter of minutes. Perhaps this life wasn't for her. It took skill and talent to be a Pokemon trainer, which she apparently didn't have. She sighed once more, and walked over to the girl. "Hello, Matsuko." she said with a weak smile. "I want you to have this. I think you'd be better for it than me." She handed her the Pokeball, and turned to walk toward Pallet Town. Perhaps now she could finish school...

Cairo laughed att he small rodent as it ran in fear from the Pokeball. "It's alright." He told it. "It's just a Pokeball. It's not going to hurt you. See, watch. Coal, return." He held up the Charmanders Pokeball, and a red beam shot from the Pokeball, claiming it back inside. The Pikachu shook its head and ran off into the distance. Cairo only laughed, as he picked up his Pokeball, and headed back to camp. He had cooled off, and was prepared to deal with Harper now. However, what he would say, he had no idea. He knew they needed to get to Viridian City soon though.

Lance gave the girl a small smile as she pulled up the pokeball that had pidgey in it and ran over and gave the girl a giant hug, “Congrats Matsuko,” His eyes wandered over the girl that walked over and began speaking and his eyes went wide when she handed Matsuko the pokeball and his eyes closed with a small sigh as he asked the girl “Are you sure?” but when his eyes were open again she was gone and he once again held the young girls arm in his well they were one step closer to becoming pokemon masters but still had a long way to go, in the end all Lance wanted were the small pokemon as friends not as toys and he would prove that the bond between humans and pokemon didn’t have to be trainer and pokemon it could be on equal terms as equal friends. Lance was yanked from his thoughts as Pikachu jumped on his head, the small pokemon didn’t like being in a pokeball so he let him stay on his head and began walking forward heading for the forest of Viridian where he heard there were the true pokemon he wanted the bugs and grass type pokemon he had loved so much in school.

When Cairo arrived at the location of the camp, he was surprised to find that Harper and Marley were both gone. His fists clenched once more, and tried to filter out his growing anger towards the woman. "That's it, I'm going ahead." He said. If she caught up, fine, if not, she could figure it out on her own. "Coal, come on out!" He summoned his charmander once more. "I've decided that you're going to walk with me." He said. Most trainers kept their Pokemon in Pokeballs, or even carried them. But Cairo figured that walking would help build his Pokemons strength and endurance, even when they weren't training. "Come on, Co-" He was inturrupted by the sounds of voices not too far back. He began walking toward the sound, the oddly colored Charmander following closely behind. It was only a few steps before he saw them. "Lance and Matsuko." He said to noone in particular. He remembered playing with them as kids. The two were inseperable now. No surprise they had started their journey together. "Lance! Matsuko!" the boy yelled, he and his Charmander waving to them as they walked over. He examined them as He walked. Matsuko had just captured a Pokemon. She started with Professor Oaks other Charmander. Lance had a Pikachu on his head. It seemed he had captured a Pokemon as well. This reminded Lance that he hadn't caught one yet. He had been training all day, and hadn't had much time. He could have caught that wild Pikachu, but he let it go... "How's it going?" He asked, though he could tell the two were getting off to a good start.

Matsuko looked at the pokeball in her hand, not knowing what just happened. When she finally got her thoughts together, the girl had already gone. She knew her from when they would play together, but she couldn't quite remember her name.. She turned from the pokeball to look up at Lance. "Come out!" Charmander looked at the Squirtle that appeared curiously and waved to it, but got pushed down by it. "Squirtle!" she scolded, but just got squirted in the face by water. Matsuko huffed and called it back into its pokeball. She heard her name get called from behind and she turned around and saw a childhood friend. "Cairo!" she flung herself in his direction and hugged him. "How are things going with you and... whoever you're with?" she knelt down and said hello to his Charmander, Mira waddling over and saying hi as well.

The pikachu looked back at the boy. She listened to him talk but barely. She didnt know what do do as she looked back to the ball. As he picked up the ball she ran up his arm and jumped on him head from his shoulder. She stayed on his head as he walked away her voice enthused because shew as geting a ride-" Pikachu!!!!"

Cairo looked up at the Pikachu on his head as he walked toward his old friends. It was a strange creature. "So you ARE coming along." He said, shrugging as he looked down at the Charmander walking beside him. He didn't know if the Pikachu wanted something from him or if it wanted to travel with him. All he knew was that it was a wild Pokemon. And none of his textbooks mentioned anything about a wild Pokemon acting this way.

He smiled, and returned Matsuko's hug, and offered Lance and old fashioned "high five" "I'm alone..." He said, answering Matsukos question quickly. "Just me, and these guys." He said, addressing the Charmander and Pikachu, who, ironically, were the same pokemon traveling with the two others. Coal walked over to Matsukos Charmander, and greeted it happily, turning and offering it's tail flame to her Charmander. They often greeted eachother by joining tail flames, which offered them a small boost of energy. Cairo wondered if the Pikachu that had joined him would greet Lance's Pikachu as well..

Lance watched as the squirtle pushed over the charmander and then spit water in Matsuko’s face and he held back a light snicker as Pikachu looked down at it with it’s head turned to the side. It then tapped Lance’s head and pointed towards the trainer Cairo who was yelling at them, Lance and Cairo had been friends at the same time but also always strived to be better than the other. Lance noticed the young charmander at his side and Pikachu leaped down as the three of them, the two charmander and the Pikachu began having a conversation among themselves. Lance sat down and pulled out a small lunch and offered some to Matsuko and Cairo before looking towards Cairo “I take it your day is going pretty bad.” Lance made this assumption off of the fact Cairo was alone and the fact that coal looked a little worn out. Pikachu ran over and began tapping Lance lightly on the leg and seeming to ask for food, he handed down a piece of the bread he was eating and Pikachu began lightly nibbling on it. “Pikachu” it said with a happy smile.

Cairo smiled as he watched all the Pokemon interact with each other. They seemed to get along great. He then sighed when JD asked his question. "I was going to go on my journey alone." He explained. "Then Oak stuck me with Harper, and asked me to help her out. But she doesn't want help, so she can figure it out on her own." He looked up at the strange Pikachu on his head and shrugged. "Looks like you guys are getting off to a good start here. We should meet up in Viridian City. Maybe we can travel together." he said with a smile. "Come on, Coal." The grey colored Charmander waved goodbye to its new friends, and followed its trainer without question. "We have a lot to do, Coal. We still haven't caught a single Pokemon yet." He looked up at the Pikachu that was following them again. "And I guess you don't want to get in a Pokeball, you just want to ride on my head..."

Matsuko giggled as Mira watched the flames of her tail after the Charmander had gone. She seemed entranced by what had just happened. "Char..." Matsuko shook her head and waved good-bye to Cairo. Turning back to Lance, she stretched her arms above her head, which also made her shirt go up an inch, and yawned. "I guess we should get going to, don't wanna stay here forever! Maybe you can catch some of those creepy bug pokemon you're fascinated with." she shivered slightly to add emphasis to her words. "I'll stick to the cute ones!" she pinched his cheek and laughed.

Lance felt his cheeks get red when she began pinching them and his eyes closed slightly as he muttered “Stop it” he laughed softly, he had a crush on Matsuko since they had first became friends and he had never had the nerve to tell her yet so he decided to just walk with her they stopped outside of viridian forest and Lance saw what he wanted to get his hands on, a caterpie and not far from it a weedle, he could try to use the rattatta to catch the caterpie and Pikachu to catch the weedle. Lance wanted to go after both of them right now but he couldn’t so he pointed out the green worm to Matsuko and gave a smile “I am going after him.”
