Training Grounds

The Training grounds of Konoha. All training sessions will take place here instead of the main forum. They will be assumed to take place at a seperate time than the events of the storyline.

Hanabi ran to the training grounds. She was strong compared to Hinata, but Hanabi wasn't stupid. She knew she was no match for an Akatsuki member yet. She saw the Hokage running to help, so she assumed they wouldn't have a problem. Looking around quickly, the training grounds seemed to be empty. It was peaceful, and even with Byakugan, Hanabi could see no one. "Perfect..." she whispered quietly to herself. Sitting stop one of the tree stumps, she crossed her legs and rested her hands in her lap. Milky white eyes closed and her head tilted back, the sun washing over her pale skin. It was nice outside, just how Hanabi liked it. "Neji-Niisan will find me soon enough if he has something to tell me.... Wonder what it is."

Hanabi knew there was someone behind her. The Byakugan had just one small weak spot, but it wasn't activated. She was connected to the training grounds that moment, feeling the movement of every rock, every leaf falling to the ground, and every living creature. Whoever it was, they were quiet. She focused so much on him that when someone else yelled, her eyes snapped open and she nearly fell off the tree stump. Leaping off and falling back into a subtle stance, she watched the two approach. "Hello." she looked at the one who fell from the tree. "I'm guessing you are Haku." Hanabi turned to look at the second person. "And you are...?" she asked softly. Hanabi was usually kept indoors, and didn't interact much with the people outside of the village. It was common for her to see unfamiliar faces.

She looked at the man who spat at her feet. Her eyes weren't filled with anger or amusement. It was hard to tell what the girl was thinking at all, her face was blank. She wasn't completely emotionless, either. Hanabi listened to him speak and did nothing at the scene he caused. When he walked away, she still did nothing. She knew that was what Hinata would have done. Hanabi turned her head up and nodded at the man. "Lots of people are against the clans, some for no reason at all but the need to hate." she sighed softly and sat back down on the tree stump in the position she was in before. "How can I give a name when I haven't even seen your face?"

Hanabi turned her head and was surprised when he took his mask off. The hair, the feminine features, it was like looking at a reflection of herself. She gave a small grin when he kissed her hand and she stood, giving the man a bow. "My name's Hyuuga Hanabi." The wind ran through her hair once more and she rolled her eyes, tying it up. She thought for a moment about what the man said. He studied ice jutsu, eh? That was new. She wanted to test it, see how it worked. Her eyes looked up at them and showed a flicker of amusement. "Since you're here, let's have a friendly little spar. Unless you'd rather go find your partner."

Hanabi backed up just a few steps. She knew he was silent, he used ice jutsu, and that he somehow used senbon as a weapon, that wasn't enough. "Byakugan..." she whispered, her pupils becoming more visible and veins popping out around her eyes. She could see everything now, the coil of chakra in the man's stomach and his tenketsu. She leapt in the air and took out a few kunai, shooting them at him, all of them aimed for vital organs; the heart, lungs, brain, and others. She landed behind him, her back to him as well, waiting to see how he would block them. Meanwhile, she could feel the chakra in her own body rushing to her fingertips and to her eyes. It was a pleasant feeling.

Hanabi saw how fast he was with the senbon and she smirked. When the senbon surrounded her, she automatically jumped out just before the ice began forming around her. Her eyes widened and she tried to get as much information about it as the Byakugan could give her. "Ice..." she threw a kunai at it and found that it was inpenetrable. Of course, she thought to herself. Was he holding it up using chakra? Or was it just another weapon like a kunai, or a puppet?

She smirked lightly and fell into a stance as the ice came towards her. Both arms out, one lower, one higher. It was similar to the one Neji used before... "Hakkeshou... Kaiten!" She spun quickly, emitting chakra from every tenketsu from her body. Soon, she was turning so quickly, it was like a small, blue dome was surrounding her body. This defense could nullify almost any attack and was one of the most basic moves Hanabi learned from her father. She looked up at Haku and ran towards the trunk, and continuing up the tree to where Haku was. Hanabi focused chakra into her fist and punched at the branch they were currently standing on, leaping onto the ground afterwards.

Hanabi looked around her, fascinated. She knew the smart thing to do would be to give up, but she was just having too much fun! She stood straight, eyes closed, focusing only on the dome. Her hands glowed a light blue and she held them out for a split second before spinning like she did before. This was like the Hyuuga's 64 palms, but instead of closing the tenketsu, Hanabi would strike. "2 palms... 4 palms... 8 palms... 16 palms... 32 palms... 64 palms!" She yelled the numbers while she was in rotation, reflecting any attacks thrown at her. When she stopped, there was a crater below her and her eyes opened.

When the mirrors exploded, her eyes focused for a moment at the ice needles that shot at her. They were placed perfectly so they would line up with her blind spot as she spun, but her defense was 360 degrees whether she could see it or not. Some of the attacks got through, a few scrapes on her arms, but nothing that could stop her. She stopped and faced the man, her eyes getting wider and her chakra growing stronger. She was almost drained, this would be her last big attack for this spar. "Hakke Hyakunijuuhachishou!" the chakra rushed to her fingertips once again, but this time, she aimed only at him. "2 palms, 4 palms, 8 palms!" she continued up to 128 this time, every single one aimed at the man, and every single strike faster than the last.

For some time, Neji had watched Hanabi's interactions with the masked ninja. "So he's the survivor of the Yuki clan..." He said to himself, watching the two closely as the battle began. It amused him that she challenged the boy to a "friendly spar" and instantly targeted vital points. She was a ruthless fighter, like her father. Haku was also playing to win, and truly decietful. He claimed that he learned his techniques from a teacher, but he was the only person alive who held the kekkei genkai of ice techniques such as his. He wondered how Hanabi would handle the Ice Mirror technique. He remembered reading the report on that technique. It was truly a brilliant move, but not impossible to break. It was stronger than normal ice, and somewhat flame retardant, but with enough sheer force, or a hot enough flame, it could be destroyed. More than likely, Hanabi would not be able to do this at her level, however. Neji prepared himself to interfere, in case this boy actually attempted to kill his student.

JD watched the two genin spar a slight smile upon his face, he closed his eyes and spoke so Neji could hear. “Reminds you of us when we were younger doesn’t it.” JD gave a light chuckle as he reminisced about the old days, “anyway” he muttered as he yawned “I need to know who your cousin there is in a team with,” JD wanted to get the teams together so he could plan a date and let the other village leaders know so they could attend the event. He spoke again after finishing the earlier statement and an even more leaderly voice came to his lips as he spoke his next words "and what happened with sasori I had to leave on urgent business with the elders and thus could not offer a hand” His voice sounded somewhat between a scowl and hatred for the village elders. After Neji gave him satisfiable answers JD leaped from the tree and made his way over to the two students.

Hanabi froze when he bowed to her. "Wh-What? But I'm not-" her Byakugan deactivated when he gave her a kiss on the forehead. She gave him a hesitant bow and watched as he walked away. That technique was ridiculous. What was its weakness. Mumbling softly to herself, she walked over to where Neji and the Hokage were standing. She bowed to the both of them. "Hokage-Sama, Neji-Niisan." she greeted them softly, looking a bit worn and scratched up, but calm otherwise. "Niisan, I was told to see you..." Hanabi still had no idea of who was her team or team leader. Apparently, it would have been a better idea to keep it from her.

Neji nodded his head as JD spoke to him. It was strange being the elder watching the genin. It felt like it hadn't been that long since that was them, young and free...He turned his head in the Hokages direction and offered him an annoyed face. "Do you even READ the reports i leave you?" He shook his head before JD could answer. "Hanabi is in team two with Chrome and Inu." He said. He looked up as he recalled the situation with Sasori. "I'd like to make him an interesting offer, however I didn't want to do it without speaking with you about it first. Don't you think it would be amazing to have a puppet ninja army? They could handle a number of missions while putting minimal ninja in danger. Not only that, but Kankuro could learn a lot from him, don't you think?" Of course, this was a mater that would require further discussion at a later time. Neji dropped to the ground and walked over to the two who had been sparring as well. He looked at Hanabi, maintaining a straight face, however smiling inwardly. "You were asked to see me, Hanabi..." He began. "Because as of today, you will address me as Neji-sensei. You are officially a member of Team Two."

Hanabi blinked a few times. She overheard what her cousin was saying with the Hokage and heard two names. Apparently, Hanabi was in a genin team with Chrome and... who? "Um... Neji-Niisan, who's Inu?" she thought for a moment and realized she didn't know who Chrome was either. She knew she was a Hyuuga, but she never came face to face with her. If she was part of Team 2, that meant she would be in the Chunin exams with that Haku person she just sparred. Was everyone in the exams that strong? Hanabi bit her bottom lip gently, thinking some things through. It would be nice to have another Hyuuga on the team, but Chrome was part of the branch family, wasn't she? Hanabi stopped thinking and looked up at her cousin. "Call you Neji-Sensei? Must I?"
